Support all students with children

Editor-Anna Down and Kirsty Le Doare's well written article is pertinent and correctly timed.1 Many women medical students face similar situations around the world. Childcare facilities, if available on campus, would go a long way in allowing mums to peacefully pursue their academic goals. Combining family responsibilities and careers, especially one as demanding and exacting as medicine, is a challenge in itself. With an increasing number of mums and dads as students, medical schools need to think about providing childcare facilities.

Mum, I salute thee

It is time to acknowledge, salute, and encourage these mums in every way for their sheer grit and commitment to study medicine in the face of logistic, financial, and emotional ups and downs.
